Data Science for Decision Making in the Context of Public Organization: An Empirical Case in the Comptroller General's Office of the State of Santa Catarina
Abstract
For an organization to make decisions, it is essential to have access to valuable data and information. Given this challenge, the question is, can Data Science help to increase and qualify the process based on the knowledge of an organization, aiming to support decision making? To answer this question, an action-research was conducted at the Office of the Comptroller General of the State of Santa Catarina (CGE-SC), where Data Science and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) techniques were applied to feed the databases in a qualified way. It is considered, therefore, that the set of methods, practices and process automation used assist in extracting knowledge from a large volume of data for decision making.
